Eggs for breakfast, Antipolo

I love eating out of town. Antipolo could be considered out of town right?

Eggs for Breakfast is a pretty hidden place. Thanks to the two tarps along the road, you’ll know it’s there (although it doesn’t look like it). The place itself is inside some sort of events place, which means parking won’t be a problem.

We sat near the grass wall.

Outside the place you’ll see an Eggs for Breakfast typography, which is very typical of these third-wave-looking comfort-food-serving cafés. Once you get through the double doors you will see nothing but the grass wall at the back of the room. It looks like it got infected with a disease called pinterest. It’s pretty for pictures, I admit (as I have pictures of me there), but I feel like it doesn’t go well with the whole café. It drowns everything else in sight. That wall really doesn’t suit the furniture and the wood planks you’d expect from a typical café these day. But oh well, we don’t go to restaurants for the way it looks, but for the way the food tastes.

And it tastes good.

We got a One Pan Breakfast, Buttermilk Pancakes with Eggs and Bacon and a “Funky Monkey” smoothie. Let me start of by saying that that monkey is not funky at all. I’m sorry, I just feel like a better smoothie could have been made at home. And it was too watery!

One Pan breakfast Php 470

Buttermilk pancakes with eggs and bacon, Php 225

Funky monkey smoothie, Php 155. Milk, Bananas, chocolate and peanut butter

Now that that’s out of our system, let’s move one to the good ones. The One Pan Breakfast inclues bacon, beans, sunny side up eggs, potatoes, shitake mushrooms and sausages. Everything was just about right. The bacon was good, although I prefer mine crunchy, I still liked it. The eggs of course, were good. I would have stormed out of Eggs for Breakfast if they didn’t do eggs well. And who screws up eggs? Lina had the mushrooms because I generally do not like how mushrooms feel in my mouth. From the looks of her, I’d say they’re not bad. The potatoes were not too hard, which is all I can really ever ask of a potato, so that’s good. And finally, the beans. My god, those beans. I am going to file a complaint over those beans. Why did they not serve me more beans?! They just made that breakfast for me. Those beans made my day, pretty much.

The pancakes, I liked. I just love food that doesn’t try to be anything else but. The pancakes were simple, fluffy and tasted like heaven. They came with scrambled eggs and bacon, also, simple. You know it’s a good place when you get exactly what you want. I just wanted pancakes and bacon and eggs and I got pancakes and bacon and eggs. No complaints.

Overall I’d say Eggs for Breakfast is a great place to have breakfast, brunch or lunch or dinner or just eat in general. Just remember to eat more than you take pictures.

Molcajete Mexican Cantina + Cerveceria, Antipolo

Just as you enter Antipolo from the Ortigas extension way right before Beverly hills village is this really great and chill restaurant. You wont spot it right away but as soon as you see the sign of Beverly hills village be on the lookout on the right side for this place. The location is a bit far from the city so coming here you might want to plan something else to do in Antipolo. I think that coming here for dinner is more advisable as according to the owners it gets cold at night and it is nice to sit outside and have a beer or two and some Mexican food.

Here’s the front of the restaurant.

The vibe here is definitely chill, as the owner described it to me. He wanted something easy and fresh. Everything here is made from fresh ingredients. So the owner/chef makes everything from scratch.

Nachos, Php 170. Pretty good for the price. Just your usual simple Nachos. It’s really nice that he just kept the usual kind of flavors you find in Nachos.

Pollo Pesto + Cheese, Quesadillas, Php 160. This comes with garlic sauce and chili sauce. I really loved this, it was delicious. The pesto and the cheese really tasted good together.

Chiptole wings with Bleu Cheese, Php 195. SPICY. I was expecting spicy but not this spicy, however the flavor is good.

Fish Baja- soft taco, Php 95

Sisig Burrito, Php 175. (Pequeno/small size) This was really good and the sisig is the pork shoulder sisig.

Rocky Road Fudge Cake, Php 135. Hot and cold concept, hot chocolate lava kind of cake with nuts under a scoop of ice cream with some marshmallows.

I loved that the owners didn’t want anything fancy but just wanted to keep everything on the menu easy like comfort food. When you think of Mexican you would usually get something kind of oily right? but not here. I did not get any oil drippings on me from some cheese that I normally get from Mexican restaurants. Nothing super heavy but not light either. Maybe if you have plans on going up Antipolo or visiting places like the Pinto Museum you could pass by here on the way up to get some take out or to hang out with your friends after biking up Antipolo.

Price ranges from Php 95-195, Here’s the basic menu.

Pinto Art Museum, Antipolo

I had been wanting to go here since three months ago but I didn’t have the time until yesterday because It was a holiday. Even if you are not an art enthusiast you would love to visit the place. Unfortunately it was raining hard yesterday so we were not able to see the whole vicinity.

The viewing room

My favorite artwork is that man on the swing! Looks amazing in person

I would love to just give you a preview of the place and its artworks. It is a great place for you to come with your family and or your friends for a very quick trip out of Manila. It is only about 30 mins away from Katipunan and a beautiful place to spend your day in. I love that there are small and different kinds of artworks around each corner of the place. I was expecting the place to be a bit bigger however I was not disappointed with the place.

We got a bit lost coming here because of the rotunda and the lack of signs. Just make sure that you turn right on the next street after Marville park. Entrance fee is Php 150 and for students if you bring your ID it is Php 75. Enjoy your day and get lost in this beautiful museum. I would recommend coming here on a Sunny day.

Half day trips from Manila, Daranak falls Tanay Rizal

candid moment

It was the birthday of one of my closest friends and we wanted to celebrate it outside of Manila. Somewhere new and fresh, not like Tagaytay or Subic where everyone seems to go to when they celebrate something. We left Katipunan at10383005_10204102597276116_5321219528265016163_n around 1pm and arrived there at exactly 2:15pm. We weren’t aware of where to pass so at     first we took the long way around up the mountains. Not bad since we got to see tons of beautiful scenery up the winding roads! We went straight to Marcos highway and then just followed the road. It was easy since the road was just straight and when you get to barangay Sampaloc you will see tons of signs leading you to the falls.10402972_10204102597596124_5470486164472533293_n10478226_10204102599076161_4565834178477385195_n

New Adventures!

A small paradise near Manila. I would definitely refer anyone to try to go here since Tagaytay and all those other places are overrated. Here you could dive into clear cool waters and enjoy the scenery and the beautiful waterfalls. Mostly locals and foreigners visit Daranak falls, and it would be nice if you could try it as well. Only an hour outside of the busy city and you would only spend for the gas and the 50 pesos entrance fee and 30 pesos parking fee! Just bring your own sandwiches or snacks. The locals here are very friendly and the lifeguards kept our things safe! Definitely something you should tick off your to-go-to list. Enough with the city! Immerse yourself into nature!
